Helen's grandad, Leonard Myers, volunteered to join the airforce at the young age of 18. Based at Wratting Common, a part of the 195 squadron, he completed and survived 30 operations, which included over 400 hours of flying as a wireless operator in a Lancaster Bomber. Two of the seven crew members were from New Zealand and they instigated a ritualistic performance of the haka before every flying mission. Last year Crossrail discovered remains from the famous Bedlam Hospital underneath Liverpool Street Station.

This hand pulled screen print represents some of the dreadful reasons why staff were dismissed from working there in the 16th Century. The mental health hospital originally founded in 1247 now the Bethlem Royal is currently at it's forth site in south London. This limited screen print was originally researched and created for an exhibition at the Olympic park associated with Crossrail, I found it thoroughly interesting digging into the history of the famous hospital.
