The Printing Story

After graduating from the Camberwell College of Art in 2005 with a Masters in Printmaking, Helen set up a screen printing studio in south London. A couple of years later she teamed up with Lucy Bainbridge and now works at Bainbridge studio, a creative hub for over 50 artists. This has led to exciting collaborations and great exchanges of skills and creative dialogue. Helen has spent the last 17 years pushing and combining the traditional printing techniques with modern technologies, her mac book never too far away. Loving typography, maps, medical diagrams and noticing the everyday, she likes to capture subtle patterns and combine them with familiar imagery. Often celebrating a specific area by collecting photographs, researching stories and historical associations, she likes to capture it by combining text, drawings and digital images in layers of colour to create an immersive, interesting and beautiful original piece of art.

Public Artworks

Her artwork and images have lent themselves to projects in art, illustration, public artwork, hotels and commercial industries. She has collaborated with artists to create over 300 meters of hoarding designs, window graphics for offices, hospital, health centres and hotel artwork as well as private commissions.

Most recently Helen has become involved with HCA Healthcare creating artwork for newly refurbished or built facilities. This has included artwork printed on wall to wall glass, window film, light boxes, wall murals and framed pieces for Guys Cancer Care Centre, Chiswick Health Centre, The Harley Street Clinic, The Lister, Princess Grace, Wellington and London Bridge Hospitals, Christies, and HCA Laboratories and head office.

Workshops

Helen runs printmaking and art workshops in a number of venues across London, these include bookmaking, screen printing and textiles with adults, children and marginalised groups. She also runs workshops within community groups, hospitals and companies to feed into commissioned artwork especially in public spaces. She regularly teaches at Core Arts, a mental health arts charity in Homerton.
